Akki Rotti or Rice Rotti

Akki rotti (Kannada: ಅಕ್ಕಿ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ) is an Indian bread most commonly used in the central & southern parts of Karnataka. Akki means rice and rotti means bread. This bread is prepared by rice flour. There are two different types of akki rotti one is plain akki roti and other is masala akki rotti which is also known as thalipattu.
Here i have prepared plane akki rotti its easy and very tasty

Time Required: 20 Minutes

Ingredients:
2 Glasses Water
1 cup Rice flour
1/2 tsp salt

Method:
In one vesel put 2 glasses of water and 4 tbsp of rice flour and stir in medium flame after some time it gets thick, now add 1 cup of rice flour, mix properly.

Knead it when it is still warm and make a dough. Make small balls from dough and roll them into circles using rolling pin, same as chapatis.

Heat tawa and put akki rotti, wipe from water with help of cloth and cook same as chapathi and serve with Beetroot Palya.

  1. Akki roti has been one of my favourites. Though I've never made it, just had it from friend's lunch box :) Thanks for the recipe and the step-by-step pics are very useful. This procedure is very similar to a Kerala dish called Pathiri, which is also made of cooking rice-flour and water to make a dough.
