Jowar (Kannada: ಜೋಳ) used for food as a grain is a staple source of nutrition. Its mainly used in the northern & central parts of Karnataka & southern parts of Maharashtra for making Indian Bread or Jowar Rotti or in Kannada its called as Jolada Rotti (ಜೋಳದ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ). This jowar rotti is usually taken with vegetable & pulse curries like Engai (Eggplant/Brinjal) Palya, Hirekai (Ridge Gourd) Palya, Javalikai/Chavalikai (Cluster Beans) Palya, ... and Shenga Chutni, mosuru (curds).

Time Required: 20 Minutes
Makes 5 Rottis
Ingredients:
2 Glasses Water
1 cup Jowar flour
1/2 tsp salt
Method:
In one kadai put 2 glasses of water and 4tbsp of Jowar flour and stir in medium flame after some time it gets thick, now add 1 cup of Jowar flour, mix properly.
knead it when it is still warm and make it a dough.
Make small balls from dough and roll them into circles using rolling pin, same as chapatis.
Heat tawa and put Jowar rotti, wipe from water with help of cloth. and after 1 min turn it to otger side and press with dry cloth gentally so that roti puffs separating into two layers with steam in side.
Cook same as chapathi and serve with hirekai(RidgeGard) Palya or Engai (Eggplant/Brinjal) Palya and Groundnuts Chutney powder.
