Start kneading the mixture into a stiff yet pliable dough by adding little water at a time. Make small round balls from the dough. Set aside.
To flatten these balls into round breads, take butter sheets.
Place the dough ball on butter sheet and using your palm start flattening the dough into a small round circle. (you may also use rolling pin and apply some oil to avoid the dough to stick)
Add about 1/2 tsp oil on the griddle and put this flattened bread on griddle, butter sheet should be on top after few seconds(very less sec) take out the butter sheet and apply oil to flattened bread. ( or Add about 1/2 tsp oil on the griddle and with the help of the butter sheet pick up and place the thalipattu on the griddle/pan. (make sure your plastic doesn't touch the hot pan))
Drizzle a little oil in the center and a little on both the sides once, while cooking. Cook approximately for two minutes on med heat on both sides.
Serve hot with homemade butter, yogurt, ghee, pickle or green coconut chutney
NOTE:
The dough will be little sticky because of onion. So wet your hand /grease your hand with oil to pat them easily.
To the dough you can also add finely chopped vegetables like fenugreek/methi leaves , spring onion, cucumber etc.
